EXHIBITION OPENS WEDNESDAY 1st JUNE 2016

THE DEAN CLOUGH GALLERIES, HALIFAX

The first photographic grid of Halifax was carried out, in 2003, by students at The North Halifax Grammar School. Over a twelve year period a lot has changed, both to Halifax and to popular photography.

This is a repeat of the original exercise, carried out between October 8th and December 31st 2015. The geographic locations are the same, while the photographers are nearly all different. This time they are from the wider school community: current students, ex-students, teachers, support staff, parents and friends of the school. A key difference is that almost all of the 2015 photographers have studied photography.

The area covered ranges from Bank Top to the east, Dean Clough to the north, Savile Park Moor to the south and Pellon to the west.

The intended outcomes are an online comparison of the two Halifax grids, a public exhibition and a record in the form of a hardback book.
